Tyson Fury vs Wladimir Klitschko

Tyson Fury vs Wladimir Klitschko postponed: Heavyweight champion claims ankle injury has delayed fight. The fight was scheduled to take place at the Manchester Arena on July 9, with 14,000 tickets believed to have been sold for the event which was to be aired on BoxNation TV.

The undefeated, self-styled 'Gypsy King' who took the belts from long-reigning champion Klitschko in Germany last November, had damaged his right ankle on a training training run ten days ago, with doctors having told him yesterday that it had not improved enough for the 6ft 9ins tall, 18st heavyweight to fight.

Fury, who revealed the news in a video on Instagram, revealed that he had recently sustained an akle injury while training.

"About ten days ago, I was running up in the Lake District and I went over on my ankle, sprained my ankle.

"I've been the hospital, had x-rays and MRA [MRI] scans and all that stuff. They said it's not broken but it's badly spained - keep off it for six or seven weeks.

"I had a second opinion and got the advice was the same. So the fight will be being postponed."

Earlier on social media, Fury had hit back at 40-year-old Klitschko for comparing him to Adolf Hitler over his controversial beliefs. “Wladimir obviously has no education on the matter as he doesn’t realise that Hitler killed hundred of thousands of gypsies, if not millions," said Fury in a video he had posted. “To call me that is a very, very bad insult because a lot of my ancestors were killed and murdered by Hitler. For you to call me that is a very bad insult. Let’s not forget that your people, the Ukrainians, were the guards of the death camps where my people were slaughtered.

Fury's promoters, Hennessy Sports and Klitschko Management Group (KMG) said yesterday that they will announce a rescheduled date for Fury vs. Klitschko II as soon as it was confirmed, adding that tickets purchased for the original July 9 date will be valid for the rescheduled date, still at the Manchester Arena.
