Jordan Spieth’s major wins represent the most impressive achievement in golf since Tiger Woods was setting records a decade ago. Johnson had a two-shot lead with nine holes to play. That lead disappeared over the course of the next eight holes, but on 18, he found himself 13-feet from an eagle – and the win. Johnson missed his eagle putt, and was left with a four-foot putt to force a playoff.

Johnson’s loss bring back memories of Phil Mickelson on 18 in the 2006 U.S. Open.

Spieth won on a dramatic final day at Chambers Bay after compatriot Dustin Johnson three-putted from 12 feet on the 18th to finish one shot adrift.

Spieth will now rest up ahead of next month's British Open at St. Andrews, where he will be aiming for a third consecutive major success.
