The Toronto Blue Jays look to get back in the win column after blowing another late lead on Tuesday as they welcome the New York Yankees to the Rogers Centre on Wednesday.

The New York Yankees’ stifling bullpen made the difference in a highly entertaining contest last night in Toronto as the tandem of Dellin Betances and Andrew Miller shut down the prolific Blue Jays offense in the late stages that ultimately sealed a 3-2 win for the visitors. The Yanks will look to take game two on Wednesday night when they send Michael Pineda to the mound and while he did register a victory in his season opener he was roughed up pretty badly and will be looking for a much better outing as the Yankees continue to search for their ace. New York is an impressive 11-5 in Pineda’s last 16 contests against the American League East but are a measly 1-8 against their divisional foes in their last nine games which should make this an interesting show down, especially with the Blue Birds desperately needing to get back in the win column.

The Blue Jays meanwhile dropped to 3-5 to start the season and while we are still in the very early stages of a very long season there are a couple of alarms that have gone off early for the defending AL East champions and most of them have to do with their bullpen. Toronto made a move to acquire some depth in the back end as they sent Ben Revere to Washington for Drew Storen and while the former Nats closer has looked good they haven’t gotten a ton of production out Gavin Floyd, Brett Cecil, or Jesse Chavez and with their bats seemingly going quiet after the fifth or sixth inning it hasn’t been a great recipe for Toronto.
