Washington Nationals to unveil World Series rings on Sunday

The Washington Nationals will show off their World Series rings in an hour-long presentation on Sunday. The virtual celebration will air at 7 PM and will be simulcast on Nationals.com, MLB Network, MASN, and the Nationals Facebook and YouTube channels.

According to the team, the show will feature appearances from several members of the 2019 World Series championship team, Nationals ownership, and notable DMV personalities.

“We could not be more excited to finally share our 2019 World Series Champions rings with our players, staff, and fans! The various elements of the ring truly capture the Washington Nationals story and the craftsmanship is unparalleled,” Mark D. Lerner, managing principal owner of the Washington Nationals, stated in a release.

The Nationals will also present their new documentary Improbable over the weekend that takes fans behind the scenes of their championship run.

Part 1 will air on Saturday at 7 PM and the Part 2 will be played at 5:30 PM, before the ring celebration.

The news of the World Series ring unveiling comes as the MLB and the MLBPA negotiate a potential return in July. Like other sports that are planning to return, the MLB is planning to play in front of no fans in hub cities.

In April, Nationals’ general manager Mike Rizzo stated that the team would not give out championship rings or raise its banner until fans are allowed back at Nationals Park.

“I think as far as raising the banner and the distribution of rings, we’re going to wait for our fanbase to be involved to do those types of things,” Rizzo said. “Those are once-in-a-lifetime things to do and our fanbase is such a big factor in helping us win that thing. They earned it, they deserve to be involved in it and we’re going to wait for them to do it.”
