New England Patriots at Kansas City Chiefs

payperheadThe star of this week’s NFL Monday night show isn’t a future Hall of Fame quarterback, one of football’s best running backs or even the iconic coaches who will patrol the sidelines for the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs. The real celebrities in this game, maybe the reason the NFL placed it on "Monday Night Football," will be in the Arrowhead Stadium stands. They’ll be wearing red and, as always, making their presence felt.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the magic number is 137.7 decibels.

Seattle fans set the record for loudest crowd roar at a sports stadium that night, taking it away from fans of the Kansas City Chiefs (1-2).

Now, Chiefs fans will try to take back that record on one of the biggest stages in pro sports: Monday Night Football.

Chiefs fans are shown in their gear during a game at Arrowhead doing their trademark tomahawk chop under the superimposed words, “IF YOU MAKE A STATEMENT MAKE IT LOUD.”

The day of a "Monday Night Football" game at Arrowhead is, in Kansas City, like a national holiday. Chiefs fans take off prematurely or altogether from work and head over to the stadium for tailgating.

“There’s a special electricity that goes with a Monday night game in Kansas City that frankly is very hard to describe," Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt said.

Monday night, the Chiefs and their fans will attempt to break the Guinness world record for the loudest crowd at an outdoor stadium. The record was set at Arrowhead last year during a game against the Oakland Raiders but broken a few weeks later by Seahawks fans during a game in Seattle.

Looking for their second win, the Chiefs take on the New England Patriots (2-1), who have won their last two games in a row.

Reid admitted this week that preparing for New England many times can be a challenge because they never give you quite the same look

The Patriots are 3-point favorites in the game but these do not feel like THE Patriots. New England's offense has struggled and their offensive line has been a huge issue. The Chiefs pass rush has been on point this year so the way they attack the Patriots offensive line might be the key to the entire game.

It's odd to say a game in Week 4 is a "must win" but it is very important to the Chiefs, who are currently 1-2. The Chiefs can't fall to 1-3 with a road trip to the San Francisco 49ers if they're serious about making the playoffs. After blowing it in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans, the Chiefs need to beat the Patriots and continue righting the ship.

The Chiefs had a solid game in a Week 2 loss to the Denver Broncos and then beat the Miami Dolphins in Week 3 so they have put together two consecutive good games. Can they make it three in a row? I picked against the Chiefs but the more I study the game, the more I start to like the Chiefs chances. The 3-point line on the game might be too small. This will be a tight one.
