Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart has been cleared of the coronavirus.
On Sunday, he tweeted the following message disclosing he was cleared of the disease Friday:
"Corona Free as of two days ago. Cleared by Mass Dept of Health.
"Thanks for everyone's thoughts and prayers and I'm doing the same for everyone that's been affected by this. Stay safe and stay together—apart!
"Much love!"
Smart revealed he tested positive for the coronavirus on March 19 with a video message telling how important it was for everyone to take the pandemic seriously.
The Celtics guard is one of a number of players and team personnel from the NBA who have tested positive for COVID-19.
The league suspended its current season on March 11 after Utah Jazz big man Rudy Gobert tested positive, and teammate Donovan Mitchell, Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant, three other members of the Nets, Detroit Pistons forward Christian Wood and two members of the Los Angeles Lakers tested positive in the following days.
The New York Knicks also informed owner James Dolan tested positive.
In addition to Smart's announcement, Tim Bontemps of ESPN reported Mitchell and Gobert were both cleared as well.
As a number of players start to be cleared from the coronavirus, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported the NBA is asking those who have to consider donating plasma as part of its NBA Together program's efforts to help the National COVID-19 Convalescent Plasma Project.
The idea is the plasma may help find a treatment for the virus that the World Health Organization confirmed has infected more than 638,000 people as of Sunday.
Smart, 26, is averaging 13.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists this campaign. If and when the league resumes the regular season, Boston will take the floor in third place in the Eastern Conference, at 43-21.
