Tyron Zeuge vs Giovanni De Carolis

Tyron Zeuge (18-0, 10 KOs) will challenge Giovanni De Carolis (24-6, 12 KOs) for the WBA World Super Middleweight title on July 16 at the Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin.

The 23 year-old, who is trained by WBA World Light Heavyweight Champion Juergen Braehmer, takes on the tough Italian, who claimed the WBA strap with an eleventh-round TKO win over the highly-rated German fighter Vincent Feigenbutz.

If successful, Zeuge will make history by becoming Germany’s youngest ever World Champion, beating Graciano ‘Rocky’ Rocchigiani’s record of 24 years and 73 days by 8 days

Tyron Zeuge enters this fight with a 18-0 record that includes 10 knockouts. This will be Zeuge’s third fight since 2015, and he’s coming off a April win over Ruben Eduardo Acosta. Zeuge is a rising superstar in Germany and has a chance to become the country’s youngest world champion at 24 years old with a victory. Zeuge would have beaten Graciano Rocchigiani’s record by eight days. Zeuge is just the total package, as he has great defense, head movement and an offensive attack that has produced four knockouts in his last eight fights. Zeuge has a high boxing IQ and doesn’t put himself in dangerous situations, always taking what his opponent gives him and not forcing the issue. This will be Zeuge’s fifth fight in Berlin, his birthplace.

Giovanni De Carolis enters this fight with a 24-6 record that includes 12 knockouts. De Carolis has won six of his last eight fights and is coming off a January win over Vincent Feigenbutz. De Carolis seems to be more consistent with age, as he’ll be 32 next month and will be defending his title for the first time. De Carolis is a very physical fighter at 6’0” and likes to box on the inside. De Carolis is more than willing to trade punches and has only been knocked out once in his six losses. De Carolis is a tough boxer who can take a punch and is going to try to bully his opponent with his aggressive offensive attack. This will be De Carolis’ fourth fight in Germany.

This should be a fun fight between two accomplished boxers and the veteran against the rising young superstar. I have to side with Zeuge to win this bout. Zeuge is more polished overall, better defensively and won’t allow De Carolis to dictate the pace of the fight.
