Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees

The New York Yankees smacked around the Boston Red Sox 13-3on Tuesday. It was a one-run game until the Yankees scored nine runs in the seventh inning.

The Yankees blew open a one-run game in the bottom of the seventh by scoring nine runs. The big blows were a Brian McCann three-run homer off lefty Craig Breslow and a Chris Young two-run shot off Alexi Ogando.

Masahiro Tanaka had a pretty typical, No. 2 starter type night. He went six innings, allowed three runs on five hits. He struck out three and walked one. He was lifted in the seventh after Pablo Sandoval's long solo homer cut the Yankees' lead to one.

Alex Rodriguez -- who else -- was in the middle of the Yankees' comeback. Down a run in the sixth, Rodriguez followed Chris Young's leadoff single with a near home run to left center. A-Rod had to settle for a double.

Nonetheless, against the Red Sox's Henry Owens -- making his major league debut -- they tied the game at 2-2 on a Mark Teixeira single. Then, the Yankees took the lead on McCann's double. They would add a fourth run on a Carlos Beltran groundout.

The Yankees scored in the first inning again. Teixeira brought home Chris Young with a single. The Yankees have now scored 92 runs in the first inning, which is the most by any club in any season. There are still 57 games left.

The Red Sox finally got to Tanaka in the fifth after he controlled them the first four. The only hit in the first four innings was the ball Young failed to catch on a routine fly ball from Mike Napoli. Since Young didn't touch the ball -- he apparently thought Jacoby Ellsbury might make the play -- the official scorer ruled it a double.

In the fifth, Napoli hit a legit double off Tanaka. He would score on a Blake Swihart single, while the Sox added a second run on a Jackie Bradley Jr. sacrifice fly. The Red Sox had a 2-1 lead.
