Los Angeles Lakers at Los Angeles Clippers

pay per head network The City of Los Angeles has no professional football team, but it does have two basketball teams: the Lakers and the Clippers.

With 16 titles, 11 coming in Los Angeles, many associate STAPLES Center and L.A. basketball with the Lakers. The Clippers, with a budding squad and talented players looking to make history of their own, are still in search of their first championship.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers were enjoying a three-game win streak before running into the in-form Hawks who beat them by 107-98 on Monday.  Blake Griffin led the way with 26 points, 10 rebounds and six assists while DeAndre Jordan added 15 points and 16 rebounds, but the Clippers just couldn't get into a rhythm against the Hawks and it showed in a 63-52 second half. With the loss, LA drops to 23-12 overall and 15-5 at home which are still both very good records. However, the Clippers are now only 7-10 against teams that currently have winning records which is a real worrying sign.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Lakers have lost eight of their last 11 overall and are coming off a 98-94 loss to the Trailblazers. Jordan Hill had a monster game of 23 points and 14 rebounds on 10 of 15 shooting while Jeremy Lin and Wayne Ellington added 14 and 13 points respectively, but the Lakers just couldn't fend off the Blazers who leaned heavily on Damian Lillard's 39 points and took the game away. Being the second game of a back to back set, Kobe Bryant was rested and didn't even travel with the team, but he is expected to suit up tonight against the Clippers.

Last Time Out

Hawks 107, Clippers 98 – Once again, the Clippers held a lead against the Hawks. And once again, for the second time this year, the Clippers failed to close the deal against an Atlanta squad that now leads the East and has won 19 of its last 21 games. The Clippers couldn’t pull out the win, coughing up a season-high 21 turnovers, despite double-doubles from DeAndre Jordan, Blake Griffin and Chris Paul.

Trail Blazers 98, Lakers 94 - The Lakers were in solid position against one of the West’s best squads. Then, Damian Lillard happened. The Lakers led by six with fewer than five minutes left. Then Lillard hit a 3-pointer as part of his 39-point night and helped guide a late surge from Portland, which hit its free throws late to take down a Lakers team playing without Kobe Bryant, who was sitting on the second game of a back-to-back.

Head to head, the Lakers are 2-7 ATS in the last nine meetings overall and 1-10 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Los Angeles as the "road" team.

The Lakers have really showed plenty of fight lately which has led to them covering a lot of spreads, but I just get the feeling that the Clippers are due for a big win at home against their big brothers, so that's where I'm leaning.
