NBA: New York Knicks at Minnesota Timberwolves

Best Bookie SoftwareThe Minnesota Timberwolves will be severely shorthanded tonight when they battle the New York Knicks.

Minnesota (2-7) lost five of six during a two-week stretch away from the Target Center, including last Wednesday's 113-101 loss to Houston in Mexico City where it was deemed the home team.

The Timberwolves followed that up two days later with the most lopsided defeat in franchise history, falling 139-91 at New Orleans before Saturday's 131-117 loss at Dallas.

Minnesota hopes that a few days off, a return home and a visit from woeful New York on Wednesday allows it to snap out of a miserable funk. The Timberwolves have dropped five straight games by an average of 18.6 points, allowing 270 points in a back-to-back at New Orleans and Dallas late last week. To make matters worse, starting center Nikola Pekovic will miss at least three games with a sprained wrist.

The New York Knicks are just 3-9 on the season but showed plenty of fight in a 117-113 loss at Milwaukee. Carmelo Anthony scored 26 points, Tim Hardaway Jr added 24 while Iman Shumpert had 21 as the Knicks nearly fought all the way back from a 17-point halftime last night against the Bucks. On offense, the Knicks combined to shoot a healthy 55 percent from the field, but allowed the Bucks to shoot 55.1 percent while losing the rebound battle by 44-28.

As a team, the Knicks look to be making some progression with the triangle offense scheme, but they continue to lose the battle of the boards of a nightly basis, averaging just 38.6 per game, good enough for 28th in the league.

The Knicks have won five of six against the Timberwolves, including three straight at the Target Center. Anthony has totaled 69 points in his last two visits.

There is no line yet for this game, but I'm definitely all over the Knicks if the line is reasonable.
