Thursday night brings us yet another slate of preseason games. The Detroit Lions and Washington Redskins are both coming off wins in their preseason openers and will look to improve to 2-0 on Thursday night.

The trajectories of their seasons were complete opposites in 2014, but following Week 1 of the preseason, the Detroit Lions and Washington Redskins are equals.

Facing off against the New York Jets, Detroit turned in a dominant performance and won handily 23-3. The Lions held New York to a meager 53 passing yards and held a 428-123 edge in total yards. While Matthew Stafford and company didn’t see all that much work, there was something to be pretty optimistic about. Rookie running back Ameer Abdullah out of Nebraska was one of the top performers of the game, finishing up with 67 yards rushing in his first outing with the team.

The Lions have more depth this season than they have in years and that's the key to winning preseason games. Ameer Abdullah will be the star once again, as the Lions win a low scoring 20-13 game.

With expectations high once again coming into this season for this team, the Redskins defeated the Browns in their opener, with Kirk Cousins finishing with 154 yards passing and Alfred Morris pouring in 42 yards on the ground.
