Uruguay heads into the match as clear favorites, but if they fail to deliver on those expectations, they could be watching the rest of Copa América Centenario from home. A loss to Venezuela and a Mexican result later on tonight would bounce Tabárez's side before the final group-stage game is even played.

Venezuela looks to build on its monster 1-0 victory over Jamaica that gives it a fighting chance to advance out of the group stage. Venezuela took advantage of a Josef Martinez goal and was able to finish the match with the help of Rodolph Austin getting a red card. Venezuela was very aggressive with 14 shot attempts overall, three of which were on target, and the team controlled the ball for 62.5 percent of the match. Wilker Angel and Alejandro Guerra combined for seven of those shot attempts, while Dani Hernandez came away with all three saves to complete the big victory. Venezuela took a big step but isn’t out of the woods yet as it likely needs a victory here or in the next match against Mexico to secure a spot in the next round.

Uruguay needs a victory here in order to have any shot as well, as a 1-3 loss to Mexico didn’t do the team any favors. In the loss, Uruguay allowed 19 shots overall and seven which were on target. It looked like the match was going to settle for a draw after Diego Godin found the back of the net, but then Uruguay got caught sleeping and allowed two late second half goals to remove any chance at points. Uruguay will also have to play this match without Matias Vecino, who received a red card. Uruguay just has to do a better job of controlling the pace offensively and create more opportunities to score, which it has proven time and time again it's more than capable of doing with a handful of double-digit scorers.
