Milos Raonic vs. Roger Federer

Milos Raonic and Roger Federer square off in the semifinals of the 2016 Wimbledon.

Milos Raonic says he's looking forward to getting another crack at Roger Federer, the Swiss tennis legend who sent him packing with a straight-sets win in the 2014 Wimbledon semifinals.

Raonic believes he has grown as a player since his first Grand Slam semifinal, improving his all-round game and learning how to make adjustments when things aren't going his way.

Milos Raonic is coming off a four set win over Sam Querrey that took two and a half hours. In the victory, Raonic won 60 of 69 first serve points and racked up 58 winners and 16 unforced errors. Raonic is winning no less than 79 percent of his first serve points and has produced 111 winners in his last two matches. Raonic has shown he can be one of the tougher opponents on the tour when he’s winning his service points and hitting his spots with confidence. Raonic has four wins this season over top-10 players and 21 in his career overall. Raonic hopes to make his first career grand slam final. Raonic has won 11 of his last 13 matches on grass.

Roger Federer is coming off a five set win over Marin Cilic that took over three hours. In the victory, Federer won 84 of 106 first serve points and racked up 67 winners and 24 unforced errors. Federer managed to comeback from being down two sets, and he saved himself numerous times in a fourth set tiebreak. Federer showed he clearly still has the fight and the ability to compete at the highest level, but fatigue has to be in question for the 34-year-old. Federer has never lost in the semifinals of the Wimbledon in his career. Federer looks for his fourth grand slam final appearance since 2014. Federer has won 10 of his last 12 matches on grass.

These two have played 11 times in the past and Federer has won nine of those meetings. The most recent match was in this year's Brisbane International, a match Raonic won in straight sets. Raonic’s only other win over Federer came in the 2014 Paris Masters. This will be the third match on grass.

This could be another classic match with the way Raonic has been playing. However, Federer just faced a heavy shotmaker and server in Cilic and was able to find a way to victory. I’ve said for a while that Federer still has another grand slam title in him, and I’m sticking to that.
