Oakland Athletics at Detroit Tigers

best bookmaking software (SportsNetwork.com) -The Tigers have scored three or fewer runs in all but one of their past nine games, including last night's 6-1 setback to the Athletics. It was Detroit's sixth loss in a row, its longest skid since a seven-game slide from April 26- May 2, 2011.

Detroit, now four games back of first place in the AL Central, was shut down over eight innings by Oakland starter Sonny Gray before Miguel Cabrera drove in a run with a ninth-inning double.

However, starter Anibal Sanchez was reached for four runs over seven innings of work.

Josh Reddick hit a solo homer in Oakland's eighth victory in 11 games, while Gray allowed just two singles and a walk while striking out seven over his eight scoreless frames.

Jesse Hahn tries to put a rough May behind him when he starts today's finale for the Athletics.

After posting a 2.86 earned run average over four starts in April, Hahn went just 1-4 with a 4.30 ERA last month. He looked to be headed towards a strong finish after recording his first career shutout in a 4-0 win over Detroit on May 25, but he fell in defeat 5-3 to the New York Yankees on Saturday. Hahn yielded four runs -- three earned -- on seven hits and a walk over six innings.

The right-hander, who is 2-5 on the year with a 3.77 ERA, had limited the Tigers to just four hits -- all singles -- in his first career meeting with them nearly two weeks ago, striking out five to just one walk.

Shane Greene will try to do a better job of missing bats today for the Tigers and avoid a third straight losing start.

Greene faced the A's for the first time in his career on May 25 and was on the losing end of Hahn's shutout. He gave up all four runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings.

The right-hander didn't allow a homer in that game and went into Saturday's start against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim having given up just three longballs on the season. However, he was taken deep five times by the Angels in just 1 2/3 innings of work, yielding one other hit and a walk in taking the loss.
Greene fell to 4-4 with a 5.19 earned run average on the year.

These two clubs combined to score just 10 runs over a three-game set in Oakland from May 25-27, with Detroit winning twice. The Tigers have won six of their past nine versus the A's overall.
